If the opportunity or situation to have another person at the negotiation process arises, ask them to watch and discuss the negotiation with them afterwards. The observer may pick up on things that you missed and it’s always good to have another perspective.
Despite what you see in the movies, hostage negotiators work in groups, however one will have overall command. Your observer may pick up on more subtle clues that you are likely to miss in the heat of negotiating. If you are new to negotiating ask your observer to keep an eye on the other person's body language and report back on your performance.
Most sales training, at some point, will have some doubling up time, or working in pairs, allowing both people the chance to learn from each other.
